Alicia Jividen, Arizona native, grew up as an active, healthy girl. An athlete in high school, college and coaching as an adult prepared her for a challenge that no one asks for but sometimes the strongest are chosen to receive; being the parent of a child with special needs. Ali’s oldest, Tyler, was diagnosed with Autism in 1997. That started her journey to help him have the full, healthy childhood she had. It’s been a long road that started with little information and resources to help.
In 2002 a work transfer brought her family here to Southern Nevada. Seven years under her belt since the autism diagnosis of Tyler, she knew she needed to do more to give this handsome, athletic boy the life all parents want for their children. It was three years ago that they deeply dove into nutrition and activity as a remedy. The results are enough to make any family with autism in it take note.
Ali recalls, “I was desperately searching for a way to help my oldest son with Autism. I discovered that through a very clean diet (no processed foods, organic and supplementation) coupled with vigorous exercise, we are able to manage his symptoms and as a byproduct, my little son and I both got healthier and stronger.” The consequence of Ali and her family becoming happier and healthier wasn’t the end to this journey. Her natural tendency of leadership through coaching and desire to help others led her to become certified in Fitness Nutrition. She began coaching family and friends and found tremendous satisfaction in having a hand in bettering all those around her.
Alicia joined the ranks of the #LVHFCoC to continue helping others. Her spirit of community, knowledge and passion for better life through better nutrition was a perfect fit within the Chamber. “Now, I coach friends and family. I have even further expanded my reach to others through Advocare which allows me to help people all the time not only through exercise but also through nutrition and supplementation. I am committed to educating the Las Vegas community to the point where everyone is fully empowered in their own health and well being.”
